How it all began...
Growing up in the heart of the Belgian Congo (now the DRC), Sue was surrounded by jungle sounds, barefoot adventures, and the magical world of comics like Tintin, Spirou, Asterix, and The Smurfs. From the moment she opened those colorful comic pages, the stories they told sparked a lifelong love of imagination. She read them, re-read them, and then read them again... but she didn't just read them… she lived them! With every comic she was whisked away into worlds filled with fun, excitement, and daring adventures!
When the Small Beings Began to Whisper
Fast forward a few years (okay, quite a few), with a home filled with her own children, Sue began to hear the whisperings of brave little heroes and really nasty, greedy baddies. Soon her mind overflowed with ideas for epic quests, mysterious relics, faraway lands and a big adventure that was just waiting to be told. The spark that began in childhood comics had turned into full-blown story magic.
The Professional Journey
Before stepping into the world of graphic novels, Sue built a career in international advertising, telling stories for global brands. Later, she founded her own promotions company focused on kids and teens (because, let's face it, they're way more fun than grown-ups). After moving to Australia in 2006, she spent four exciting years in the animation industry before co-founding The Gaswerx, a boutique creative agency, where imagination constantly flourished. She's retired now to focus solely on her graphic novel writing.
The Dream Comes True
After years of scribbling, writing, deleting, countless cups of coffee, and despite more than a few "why am I doing this?!" moments, she stuck it out and now, finally, Sue's dream really is coming true! Thanks to the wonderful support of an incredible illustrator and the magical team at Papercutz, Sue's debut middle-grade graphic novel is about to be published!
